About Course

Hot Wheels Physics Camp teaches physics principles using the Hot Wheels toys kids love! Hot Wheels cars, loops, ramps, and curves are the perfect tools for learning about energy, force, gravity, and speed. Each day, campers will solve physics-related challenges and will collaborate to design and build epic Hot Wheels racetracks.

What Will You Learn?

  • How to construct Hot Wheels tracks using the engineering design process - planning, building, and revising a solution
  • The physics principles behind building epic Hot Wheels tracks - mass, velocity, acceleration, momentum, force, and energy.
  • Why teamwork is an essential component of success

Course Content

INSTRUCTOR BRIEFING
This section is designed to get instructors up to speed on the camp materials. The camp is structured to provide the campers with both a worksheet, and a hands-on challenge each day. With each worksheet, the campers can work artistically to plan and draw their build for the day's challenge. When the planning stage is done, campers can work in teams to build a Hot Wheels track in keeping with the day's challenge.

  • Lesson 01: Camp Overview and Schedule
  • Lesson 02 – Instructor Overview and Learning Objectives
  • Lesson 03 – Instructor Course Tips
  • Lesson 04 – Inventory and Class Setup

MONDAY – ENERGY, GRAVITY, FORCE, AND MOTION
In today's lessons, campers will learn about gravity and how this force can be used to generate force and motion.

TUESDAY – ACCELERATION, FRICTION, AND AERODYNAMICS
In today's lessons, campers will learn about acceleration, friction, and aerodynamics.

WEDNESDAY – LOOPS, G-FORCES, AND COLLISIONS
In today's lessons, campers will learn about loops, G-Forces, and collisions.

THURSDAY – TEAMWORK
In today's lessons, campers will learn the importance of teamwork - in both racing and engineering.

FRIDAY – VOCABULARY RECAP AND FREE BUILD
In today's lesson, campers will complete a matching game worksheet which contains the vocabulary terms learned during the week. Then, the campers may free build using the camp materials.
