About Course

Creating thrilling theme park rides requires a mastery of physics and engineering. But, even the most exhilarating rollercoaster wouldn’t have any riders without a park to call home. Using the business simulation game, Parkitect, campers will learn not only the physics behind breathtaking rides, but will also learn the business-management skills needed to attract adrenaline-hungry guests. Chart monthly profits and losses, calculate expenses, and manage loans to avoid bankruptcy, all while building the theme park of your dreams.

What Will You Learn?

  • Learn how to build and engineer rides, roller coasters, and attractions in your own theme park simulation.
  • Manage business decisions like staffing, pricing, advertising, and finance to build a profitable and successful theme park.
  • Plan your park's layout, design, and decoration to immerse your park guests in a world of pure enjoyment.
  • Use Parkitect's multiplayer mode to collaborate with teammates and leverage each team member's skills to meet your park's goals.

MONDAY – LOOPY LAGOON TUTORIAL AND MAPLE MEADOWS
In today's lessons, campers begin to learn the controls and game play of Parkitect using the in-game Loopy Lagoon tutorial. Campers will then devise a strategy and will begin the Maple Meadows Parkitect campaign.

TUESDAY – CHANUTE AIRFIELD
In today's lessons, campers will attempt Parkitect's Chanute Airfield campaign - a slightly more challenging campaign with new goals and a unique layout.

WEDNESDAY – VICTORIA LAKE
In today's lesson, campers will attempt Parkitect's Victoria Lake Campaign. The presence of water and uneven terrain in this park map increases the complexity of the challenge.

THURSDAY – WESTERN ROUNDUP OR CORAL CALDERA
In today's lessons, students will choose either the Western Roundup or Coral Caldera campaigns. In these park maps, the goals are even more challenging and the amount of building and planning increases commensurately.

FRIDAY – PLAYER’S CHOICE
For the final day of camp, players can choose to attempt other unlocked Parkitect campaigns or they can build out previously-completed campaigns in sandbox mode.
