About Course

Electrical engineering requires creativity, logic, abstract thinking, problem solving, and resource management. Why not help kids develop these skills in a fun, hands-on environment, while they gain a greater understanding of the electronic devices they use everyday? Our new Electronics And Circuitry Camp uses kid-friendly (and kid-safe) Snap Circuits along with digital resources to introduce kids to both the hardware, and theory, of electronics and circuitry. Using batteries, switches, transistors, diodes, resistors, and more, kids will tackle a series of fun challenges as they build the valuable skills they’ll need for the future.

What Will You Learn?

  • Learn the fundamentals of electronics and circuitry.
  • Gain an introduction to the concepts of voltage, current, resistance, power, and electronics principles like Ohm's Law.
  • Build working electronic circuits using batteries, switches, lamps, diodes, transistors, capacitors, and more.
  • Build working radio transmitters and receivers.

MONDAY – INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRONICS AND SNAP CIRCUITS
In today's lessons, campers are given a beginner introduction to electronics which touches on voltage, current, resistance, wattage, and Ohm's Law. Campers are introduced to the Snap Circuits used in camp. Students are required to follow safety procedures and are required to utilize and store the camp materials properly.

TUESDAY – INTEGRATED CIRCUITS
In today's lessons, campers are introduced to some musical integrated circuits, and are tasked with figuring out how they work. The featured build for the day is Project #66 - A two-player "Electronic Bombing Game."

WEDNESDAY – THE LIE DETECTOR
In today's lesson, students are introduced to Snap Circuit Project #123 - The Lie Detector.

THURSDAY – TRANSISTORS AND CAPACITORS
In today's lessons, students will learn about transistors and Capacitors. Snap Circuit Projects 124 and 125 exhibit how transistors function, and the Featured project for the day is Snap Circuit Project #225 - A Night Light with a capacitor delay.

FRIDAY – RADIO TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER
In today's lessons, students will learn how to build both an AM radio transmitter and an AM radio receiver.
