About Course

Campers master gravity, magnetism, and kinetics as they build marble runs in this popular hands-on (and screen-free) camp! The GraviTrax system allows children of all ages to build fun and dynamic marble runs. Campers start off by following build instructions, progress to build challenges, and ultimately create custom marble runs of their very own. This updated camp contains new GraviTrax pieces, and new challenges making it perfect for both beginner and experienced “Gravitraxers” alike.

What Will You Learn?

  • How to use the various pieces from the GraviTrax build system
  • How to build marble run tracks of increasing complexity
  • How to plan, build, and communicate while building a giant class-wide marble run.
  • The scientific principles underlying GraviTrax - gravity, energy, and motion.

Course Content

INSTRUCTOR BRIEFING
This section is designed to get instructors up to speed on the lesson plans, camp objectives, and tips to make running the camp easier. Lesson 4 of this section goes over the inventory instructors can expect in the Gravitrax camp materials.

MONDAY – GETTING STARTED
In this section, instructors and students will get to know the Gravitrax build system and its pieces. Students will begin with pre-designed builds A, B, and C.

TUESDAY – TRACKS D, E, AND F
This section presents GraviTrax builds D, E, and F.

WEDNESDAY – TRACKS G, H, AND I
This section presents GraviTrax builds G, H, and I.

THURSDAY – GRAVITRAX CHALLENGES, ENERGY AND MOTION
In this section, students are introduced to the GraviTrax challenges. Students are presented with some of the scientific principles which underlie their GraviTrax builds.

FRIDAY – CLASS PROJECT
Students are presented with details on their class project - trying to connect each group's marble run into a single giant marble run.
