About Course

Prepare for liftoff with our new Artemis Rocket Build Minecraft camp! In a Minecraft Education map created in partnership with NASA, campers will join the space program’s Artemis mission. They’ll meet scientists and engineers, explore jet propulsion principles, design a rocket, and launch to the moon ushering in a new era of space exploration. By completing a series of puzzles and build challenges in Minecraft, students will not only learn the basics of rocket science, they’ll also engage their creativity and problem-solving skills as they join a new generation of space explorers: the Artemis Generation.

Course Content

INSTRUCTOR BRIEFING
This section is designed to get instructors up to speed on the credentials they'll need for the camp, lesson plans and camp objectives, and tips to make running the camp easier. Lesson 4 of this section introduces instructors to the two applications used in this camp: Minecraft Education and Classroom Mode for Minecraft. This video outlines how to sign in and synch these two applications, and how to manage the students in a multiplayer world.

MONDAY – GETTING STARTED
In this section, students will learn the ground rules of Minecraft camp. They'll receive Minecraft credentials, log in, and begin a series of student tutorials on game mechanics. Students will then begin the Artemis world and will start learning about the Artemis missions and the basics of rocket science.

TUESDAY – DESIGN AND BUILD
In this section, students will design and build their first rocket and its satellite payload. Students will then design and build their next rocket which will carry cargo to the Moon. Finally, students will design and build a rocket which will carry the Artemis astronauts to the Moon.

WEDNESDAY – CUSTOM ROCKET BUILD
In this section, students will learn how to use Minecraft blocks to build a functional rocket. Students will then investigate other space-related Minecraft worlds including a Mars Rover and space station.

THURSDAY – ROCKET SCIENCE MULTIPLAYER WORLD DAY 1
In this section, students will begin a multiplayer world to collaborate on space-related machinery.

FRIDAY – ROCKET SCIENCE MULTIPLAYER WORLD DAY 2
In this section, students will continue with their multiplayer worlds.
