About Course

The Minecraft game kids love contains a unique element known as Redstone. Ask your children, and they’ll likely tell you that Redstone is used to construct mechanical creations in a player’s Minecraft world. But, it just so happens that Redstone’s in-game mechanics are perfect for teaching things like digital logic, circuitry, and automation — while also providing an introduction to combinatorics and other mathematical principles. In our new Minecraft Redstone Adventures camp, kids are challenged with building increasingly complex Redstone machines as they have fun building and perfecting their Minecraft worlds.

What Will You Learn?

  • Learn about the in-game mechanics of various Minecraft Redstone components.
  • Using Minecraft Redstone, students will learn the basic principles of electronic circuitry and digital logic.
  • Campers will use teamwork and critical thinking to construct a series of Minecraft logic gates and machines.

MONDAY – INTRODUCTION TO REDSTONE
In today's lessons, campers will be introduced to Redstone in Minecraft. Students are tasked with researching certain questions relating to in-game Minecraft Redstone mechanics while they complete the assigned tutorial.

TUESDAY – DIGITAL LOGIC CIRCUITS
In today's lessons, campers are introduced to digital logic circuits. Students are tasked with completing truth tables for various logic gates and with building an XOR gate in Minecraft.

WEDNESDAY – REDSTONE VAULT
In today's lesson, campers will investigate the Redstone Vault tutorial. Their challenge is to build an automatic door with Redstone.

THURSDAY – MINECRAFT LEVER LOCK
In today's lesson, campers tasked with building a lever lock in Minecraft. The lessons include a gentle introduction to combinatorics to figure out how many possible combinations their locks will provide.

FRIDAY – MINECRAFT HALF-ADDER
In today's lessons, campers will learn more about the binary number system. They are challenged with building a half-adder in Minecraft.
